ACCESS STATEMENT
This is an honest statement aimed to help less able bodied people judge
whether they would find Redlands a suitable venue for their stay. Redlands covers approx. 5 acres and all areas ie. tarmac entrance roads and grassy touring fields are level. The main entrance is wide and entrances to all touring pitches can accommodate most vehicles. Parking is adjacent to your Caravan, Motorhome or Tent. Requests for pitches close to the Facility Block will be entertained. FACILITY BLOCK All doors to the Reception/Shop, Utility Room, Toilets and Showers are 73cm wide. (almost 29") There is one step at the Reception/Shop entrance which is 15cm high (6") There is also one step into the Utility Room and individual washrooms which is 17cm high ( almost 7") Grab rails are fitted at this doorway.Entry to the Ladies and Gents Toilets and Showers is level. There is a very small step into each shower cubicle of 9cm (3 ½ ") A stool is provided in each cubicle. The wash hand basins are 76cm (30") from the ground and can easily be used whilst sitting on the stool. PUBLIC TELEPHONE The telephone is 130 cm (44") from the ground and is accessed through a door that is 76 cm (30") wide. SUMMARY for those with physical disabilities Those able to walk with the aid of a walking stick and who can manage one step should not have difficulties using the facilities provided. Redlands is not, at present, suitable for those who are unable to leave a wheelchair. VISUAL IMPAIRMENT Service dogs are permitted in the Facility Block. All facilities are clearly marked with signs. All buildings and their exteriors are well lit all through the night. Large print Brochures and Information Sheets are available on request.
SENSORY IMPAIRMENT The facility block is out of bounds to all dogs on site ( except service dogs) Asthmatics and those with allergies should be made aware of surrounding farmland at harvest time. The proprietors who have been trained in disability awareness under the "Welcome Host" scheme will give their utmost assistance. November 2003
